AB 2339: Firearms: prohibited persons.
<p>The bill amends existing firearm regulations in California:</p> <ul><li>Requires juvenile courts to notify the Department of Justice when they dismiss petitions that previously prohibited juveniles from owning or possessing firearms.</li> <li>AUTHORIZES the Department of Justice to provide individuals with copies of their sealed records if these records affect their eligibility to purchase, own, or possess a firearm.</li> <li>Makes designated facilities responsible for submitting reports to the Department of Justice regarding individuals who are dangerous due to mental health issues and prohibits them from owning firearms.</li> <li>REQUIRES all information provided to the Department of Justice about conservatorships and firearm prohibitions to be kept confidential, separate from other records, and accessible only under specified circumstances.
