AB 2343: Alcohol and other drug programs: consumer protection platform.

The bill requires alcohol and other drug treatment facilities and programs in California to participate in a public consumer protection platform designated by the state Department of Health Care Services for licensing and certification. Participation is mandatory only if sufficient funding is secured to cover costs. The department can charge fees but the platform administrator cannot accept payments from participating entities. Compliance verification is part of the certification or licensing process, and participation cannot be used as a criterion in evaluating bids or contract performance for publicly funded substance use disorder treatment services.
