AB 239: State-led County of Los Angeles disaster housing task force.
This bill creates a state-led task force to coordinate efforts between state and local agencies to rebuild housing in communities affected by wildfires in Los Angeles County. The task force will be responsible for streamlining efforts and accelerating the delivery of resources to affected areas. A state disaster housing coordinator will be appointed to oversee the task force's efforts. The task force will report to the legislature on the status of rebuilding housing in affected areas, with the first report due by April 1, 2026. The provisions of the bill will take effect immediately, and the task force's authority will expire on June 30, 2028. The bill also declares that a special statute is necessary for the counties of Los Angeles and Ventura.
