The bill would require the County of Los Angeles to implement a body-worn camera program for its probation department by January 1, 2028. The program would need to be developed and implemented by June 1, 2027, and would require a policy that includes best practices for officer review of recorded data. The policy would need to address issues such as data storage and officer training. The county would need to reimburse itself for any costs mandated by the state if the bill is found to be a state-mandated local program.
