This bill would amend the law regarding imprisonment in California. Currently, felony sentences are served in county jail if the defendant has a serious or violent felony conviction or is required to register as a sex offender. The bill would require these sentences to be served in state prison instead. Additionally, it would also require sentences to be served in state prison if the total term of imprisonment exceeds 6 years.
