AB 2451: Dependency: victims of human trafficking.

The bill aims to expand the definition of a child dependent in the juvenile court system to include children who are victims of human trafficking, both labor and sex trafficking. This change will allow a child who is or was a victim of human trafficking, and whose parent or guardian has failed or was unable to protect the child, to be adjudged a dependent of the juvenile court. The bill also requires the state to provide training to county children's services workers to identify, intervene, and provide case management services to all children who are victims of human trafficking. Additionally, the bill requires the state department of social services to provide information to the legislature regarding the implementation of these provisions, and to provide additional information relating to serving child victims of labor trafficking.
