AB 2536: Horse racing: satellite wagering facilities: authorizations.
The bill aims to amend the horse racing law in California. It would allow satellite wagering facilities to be located within 20 miles of existing facilities or tracks, except in the northern zone where this restriction may be waived. This expansion would apply to the entire state, not just the northern zone. The bill would also delete the requirement for a one-year test to determine the impact of a new facility on state parimutuel revenues and attendance at existing racetracks. Additionally, the bill would expand the authorization for fairs to contract with racing associations or partnerships to operate and manage satellite wagering facilities for thoroughbred meetings or simulcast wagering within the state.
