AB 2552: California Environmental Quality Act: Transit-Oriented Development Implementation Fund: contributions.

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires lead agencies to prepare environmental impact reports or negative declarations for projects with potential significant effects on the environment. For projects with significant transportation impacts, CEQA allows lead agencies to mitigate these impacts by contributing funds to the Transit-Oriented Development Implementation Fund (TODIF). The bill authorizes a lead agency to require an applicant to contribute to the TODIF if certain cost conditions are met and reductions in vehicle miles traveled have been validated by the Department of Housing and Community Development and the Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation. This bill takes effect immediately as an urgency statute.
