California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified August 15, 2026

What AB 2734 does, verified August 15, 2026

This bill amends the vehicle code to create special interest license plates that bear a graphic design depicting a California coastal motif. The department of motor vehicles will design and make available these plates for issuance, and impose certain fees for their issuance, renewal, transfer, and substitution. The additional revenue collected will be allocated to the California Beach and Coastal Enhancement Account, with half going to the California Coastal Commission for beach and coastal maintenance programs, and half to the Coastal Access Account for support of grant programs administered by the State Coastal Conservancy.
