AB 292: Domestic violence.
This bill aims to strengthen the penalties for domestic violence, specifically for individuals who willfully inflict corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition on their spouses or former spouses. The punishment would increase to imprisonment in state prison for 2, 4, or 5 years, or by imprisonment and a fine of up to $10,000, if convicted within 7 years of a previous felony conviction. Additionally, if a person has one prior felony conviction under these provisions, they would be required to serve a minimum of 60 days in county jail as a condition of probation.
