AB 416: Involuntary commitment.

This bill amends existing law to expand the types of professionals who can be designated by a county to perform involuntary commitments and treatments. The county behavioral health director must include an emergency physician in the list of eligible professionals when developing procedures. Emergency physicians who detain people under these provisions are exempt from criminal and civil liability for actions taken during the detention period.
