AB 447: Emergency room patient prescriptions.
This bill amends certain laws related to the dispensing of controlled substances and other medications in emergency room settings. It would allow a prescriber to dispense an unused portion of a non-controlled substance to a patient being discharged from the emergency room if certain conditions are met. The bill also clarifies the exemption of automated unit dose systems from licensure requirements in certain situations, specifically when used to provide medication to patients in a licensed hospital facility. Additionally, it authorizes the use of automated unit dose systems to dispense controlled substances to emergency room patients under specified requirements.
