AB 460: Radiologic technologists: venipuncture: direct supervision.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 13, 2025

What AB 460 does, verified December 13, 2025

This bill revises the definition of direct supervision for radiologic technologists performing venipuncture in an upper extremity. The revised definition requires the supervising physician to be physically present within the facility or immediately available via audio and video communication with access to the patient's medical imaging records. The facility must have safety protocols in place, and if a physician is not physically present, there must be personnel onsite with the appropriate license to respond to adverse events at the physician's direction. The bill imposes a state-mandated local program, which requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. However, this bill provides that no reimbursement is required for a specified reason.
