The Medi-Cal program will be required to share data electronically for members, including those receiving behavioral health services, specialty mental health services, substance use disorder treatment, and managed care services. This data sharing will be used to support member care. The California Department of Health Care Services will determine the minimum data elements and format of data sharing, which will be completed through a stakeholder process and published by January 1, 2027. The data sharing will be done in compliance with privacy laws.
