AB 633: Human trafficking: vacatur relief for victims.

This bill aims to expand vacatur relief for victims of human trafficking in California. It would allow individuals who were under 18 and victims of human trafficking at the time of their arrest or conviction to receive relief, even if they were convicted of a nonviolent offense. To receive this relief, the individual must establish that their arrest or conviction was directly related to being a victim of human trafficking. The court would then vacate the conviction if it finds that the individual lacked the requisite intent to commit the offense. Additionally, the bill would require law enforcement agencies to seal and destroy their records of the offense. This bill would also expand the scope of perjury, which would impose a state-mandated local program.
