AB 64: Vital records.

The bill requires the use of diacritical marks on certificates of live birth, fetal death, and death, as well as marriage licenses and certificates. This change will be implemented no earlier than two years after an appropriation of funds by the legislature. The absence or presence of a diacritical mark will not render the document invalid. The bill also allows individuals to make an affidavit under oath to correct the name on a previously registered certificate if a diacritical mark was not used. The affidavit must be supported by another person's affidavit and filed with the state registrar. The state registrar will review the request and issue an amendment to the certificate if the request is accompanied by a fee.
