AB 767: Sexually violent predators: schools.

The bill aims to amend the existing law related to the civil commitment of individuals deemed sexually violent predators. A person released on conditional release must be placed in their county of domicile, unless extraordinary circumstances require otherwise. The law prohibits the release of a person within 1/4 mile of public or private schools if they have a history of improper sexual conduct with children. The bill also adds that a person released under these provisions cannot be placed within 1/4 mile of child daycare facilities. Private schools are defined as facilities or homes that provide private instruction to students between 6 to 18 years old and are listed on the state's directory of schools.
