AB 778: Local Agency Public Construction Act: internet website posting.

California · Assembly · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified February 3, 2026

What AB 778 does, verified February 3, 2026

The bill requires local agencies to post certain information on their internet websites when making payments for construction projects. This information includes the project name, contractor name, payment date, payment amount, and payment application number. The bill exempts construction contracts valued below $25,000 from these requirements. Local agencies that fail to comply with these provisions will not be able to withhold retention proceeds from remaining payments. The state will reimburse local agencies for costs mandated by the state if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains such costs.
