AB 85: Law enforcement: cooperation with immigration authorities.
This bill requires law enforcement officials to cooperate with immigration authorities by detaining and transferring individuals convicted of a felony. It limits the discretion of law enforcement officials to only cooperate with immigration authorities in cases where there is a judicial warrant or probable cause determination. The bill imposes a state-mandated local program, requiring local law enforcement to comply with requests from immigration authorities. Reimbursement for costs associated with implementing this bill will be made by the state if the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains mandated costs.
