AB 883: Data brokers: accessible deletion mechanism: deletion of personal information of elected officials and judges.

This bill adds a new section to the California civil code, relating to data brokers. It requires the California Privacy Protection Agency to maintain lists of state and local elected officials and judges who have opted-in to be included. The lists will be kept confidential and available to the public through an accessible deletion mechanism. Consumers can request the deletion of their personal information held by these officials or judges. Entities receiving such a request must comply within five days. The bill also allows elected officials, judges, and certain attorneys to bring civil actions against entities that fail to comply with the request.
