AB 92: Patient visitation.
This bill amends the health and safety code to require health facilities to allow certain individuals to visit patients, including the patient's children and grandparents, unless there are health or safety concerns. The facilities must develop alternate visitation protocols to allow visitation to the greatest extent possible while maintaining patient, visitor, and staff health and safety. In end-of-life situations, facilities can prohibit in-person visitation only if the patient has explicitly requested it. Visitors are required to adhere to personal protective equipment and testing protocols not greater than those required of facility staff. The facilities must also provide personal protective equipment and testing resources to visitors in end-of-life situations, if available.
