AB 936: CalFresh Fruit and Vegetable Supplemental Benefits Program.
This bill aims to extend the California Fruit and Vegetable EBT Pilot Project indefinitely. The project, which was initially set to end in 2027, would now continue to provide supplemental benefits for fruits and vegetables through the existing EBT system. The Department of Social Services would be required to allocate the funding provided for the program and publish quarterly data on program utilization on its website. The program would allow authorized retailers to deliver and redeem supplemental benefits, making it easier for eligible individuals to access fresh produce.
