AB 1763: Pupil attendance: excused absences: religious observance.

This bill amends the education code to allow students to be excused from school for religious observance without needing a written request from their parent or guardian. Existing law requires a written request for certain types of absences, but this bill would eliminate that requirement for religious holidays or ceremonies. The bill would also require reimbursement from the state for any additional costs imposed on local educational agencies.
