SB 1085: Water supply planning: housing developments.
This bill aims to modify the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements for water supply planning in housing development projects. A city or county must identify public water systems that may supply water for a project and request them to prepare a water supply assessment within 15 days of receiving a preliminary application. The public water system must submit the assessment within 45 days, and it does not need to be approved at a public meeting. The city or county can seek a writ of mandamus to compel the public water system to comply. The bill also requires reimbursement for costs related to the CEQA process, but excludes a specific reason for reimbursement.
