SB 1310: Voter registration: prospective jurors.
This bill would require a jury commissioner to notify the state and local elections officials if a prospective juror is not eligible to vote for a reason that also disqualifies them from serving on a jury. The local elections official would then inactivate the voter registration and provide the individual an opportunity to confirm their eligibility. The bill would also allow an elections official to update the voter registration for a prospective juror who is registered to vote but whose residence address is in a different county than where they were summoned. The bill establishes new duties for local elections officials and could be subject to state reimbursement for certain costs.
