The bill aims to expand workers' compensation for firefighters. It would apply existing presumptions for certain injuries, such as cancer and post-traumatic stress disorder, to active firefighters who serve commercial airports, in addition to existing airports served by the Department of Defense and NASA. The bill would also expand existing presumptions for other injuries, such as pneumonia and meningitis, to apply to firefighters serving commercial airports, as well as existing airports. The expanded presumptions would take effect on January 1, 2026.
