SB 256: Electricity: electrical infrastructure: wildfire mitigation.
The bill aims to enhance wildfire mitigation in the state's electrical infrastructure. Electrical corporations and local publicly owned electric utilities must develop and submit wildfire mitigation plans to the Public Utilities Commission by a certain deadline. These plans must include preventive strategies and programs to minimize the risk of catastrophic wildfires, as well as procedures for notifying customers in the event of deenergization. The plans must also consider risks related to the wildland-urban interface and include a description of the processes and procedures for coordinating communications with local governments.
