SB 335: Elections: voting by mail.

This bill would repeal existing laws requiring county elections officials to mail ballots to every registered voter and authorizing counties to conduct all-mailed ballot elections. Instead, voters would be allowed to request a vote-by-mail ballot for any election. A voter could also apply to become a permanent vote-by-mail voter, and county elections officials would be required to mail a vote-by-mail ballot to these qualified voters. The bill would establish new duties for local elections officials, creating a state-mandated local program. If the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains mandated state costs, reimbursement for those costs would be made according to state procedures.
