SB 382: Vehicle repossessions.
This bill regulates repossession agencies that locate or recover collateral, including vehicles. It prohibits agencies from discussing or agreeing with third parties to set fees for personal effects and from accepting hold harmless agreements in lieu of removing, inventorying, and storing these effects. The bill also clarifies that provisions relating to vehicle liens do not prohibit licensed repossession agencies from filing liens. Furthermore, it specifies that requiring additional documents to release a vehicle is a violation of the law, which requires releasing the vehicle to anyone legally entitled without requiring extra documents.
