SB 520: Nurse-midwifery education program.
The bill creates a fund to establish master's level nurse-midwifery education programs within the California State University and University of California systems. The fund will be administered by the Department and will receive money from the general fund upon appropriation by the legislature. The Department will establish competitive application criteria to select optimal sites for the education programs. The programs must offer a master's degree as the culminating degree and meet specified requirements. The fund will support the annual operating costs of the education programs through the graduation of the first cohort of matriculated students or 5 years, whichever is shorter.
