SB 552: Juveniles: wards: case plans.

California · Senate · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified February 3, 2026

What SB 552 does, verified February 3, 2026

This bill aims to improve the treatment of juveniles in the California juvenile court system. It requires a case plan to be developed and included in a social study in cases where a minor is recommended for wardship. The case plan should include specified components and the court must order the minor to comply with it. The court will also review the ward's progress towards meeting the case plan's goals at a hearing every six months. This bill increases the duties of county probation officers and imposes a state-mandated local program. If the commission on state mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs will be made.
