SB 646: Prenatal multivitamins.
What SB 646 does, verified December 8, 2025
A new law will require manufacturers of prenatal multivitamins to test their products for heavy metals, such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury, starting January 1, 2027. This testing must be done on a representative sample of each lot of the product. The results of the testing must be provided to authorized agents upon request. Additionally, brand owners of packaged prenatal multivitamins must disclose the heavy metal testing information to the public, including on product labels and online. The law also prohibits the sale of prenatal multivitamins that do not comply with these provisions.
