SB 702: Legislative and gubernatorial appointments: report.

California · Senate · 2025–2026 Regular Session · last verified December 6, 2025

What SB 702 does, verified December 6, 2025

The bill requires the governor's office to maintain a list of state boards and commissions on its website, including membership information, duties, and meeting frequencies. The governor's office must also publish a report annually containing aggregate demographic information on appointments made during the prior year. The secretary of the senate and the chief clerk of the assembly are required to maintain a similar list on their websites and publish annual reports containing aggregate demographic information on their respective legislative appointments. The reports must exclude ex officio appointments of senators and assembly members and be published in a way that ensures the anonymity of the appointed individuals.
