This bill requires the department of corrections and rehabilitation, in partnership with the department of industrial relations, to establish a preapprenticeship pathways to employment pilot program by January 1, 2028. The program will provide preapprenticeship training in the skilled construction and building trades to incarcerated individuals until January 1, 2032. The program must follow the multi-craft core curriculum and coordinate with joint apprenticeship training committees. The department of corrections and rehabilitation must implement the program at one men's facility and one women's facility, and report certain data regarding participation to the legislature starting January 1, 2029.
