SB 834: Criminal records: relief.

This bill aims to provide relief to individuals with convicted records. It requires the Department of Justice to review records in statewide criminal justice databases and identify eligible individuals. To be eligible, at least 3 years must have passed without new activity related to the record. The bill also requires courts to inform recipients of local summary criminal history information that relief has been granted, and to include the date the court received notice from the Department of Justice. Additionally, courts must furnish a certificate of disposition to individuals requesting it, confirming the court's receipt of notification and compliance with the grant of relief. The bill may create a state-mandated local program and requires reimbursement for costs mandated by the state if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains such costs.
