SB 994: Local agencies: nondisclosure agreements.
This bill aims to prohibit local government officials from entering into nondisclosure agreements that prevent them from sharing information with fellow officials. It would also prohibit staff from entering into similar agreements that prevent them from sharing information with the officials they serve. The bill would make these agreements void and unenforceable if entered into after January 1, 2027, or if entered into before that date but for information not covered by the exceptions. Exceptions would be made for nondisclosure agreements related to trade secrets, financial information, or proprietary information. Local government officials serving in charter cities or charter counties would be exempt from the bill's provisions.
