What A 11692 does, verified September 27, 2026

This bill amends the Real Property Tax Law of New York by adding a new section 498. The primary purpose of this amendment is to provide owners of real property who are exempt from taxation with a grace period to re-apply for their exemption. Specifically, if an exemption that requires renewal is not renewed and the owner receives a property tax bill for a new fiscal year, they will have thirty days from the date of receiving that bill to submit a re-application. The law stipulates that eligibility for the exemption will be determined as if the renewal application had been submitted on time. The act is set to take effect immediately upon introduction.
