The Lactation Accommodation in Public Transportation Facilities Act aims to provide a more comfortable and private environment for nursing mothers in public transportation facilities. The law requires that all public transportation facilities, including rest stops and stations, provide a private room or area for nursing mothers. This room must meet certain minimum requirements, such as having a chair and an electrical outlet, and be located outside the confines of a public restroom. The law also applies to new construction, replacement, expansion, or renovation of existing transportation facilities. Additionally, the law requires that railroad stations and bus stations with over 500,000 passengers per year provide a room or location for members of the public to express breast milk in private. The law takes effect 30 days after it becomes a law.
