A 5364: Relates to limiting the shift between classes of taxable property in the town of Haverstraw, county of Rockland for 2025-2026.
The proposed law aims to limit the shift between classes of taxable property in the town of Haverstraw, County of Rockland. In an approved assessing unit, the current base proportion of any class cannot exceed the adjusted base proportion or adjusted proportion of the previous year by more than one percent. If the computation of current base proportions would otherwise produce such a result, the proportion of the class or classes is limited to a one percent increase. The legislative body of the approved assessing unit must then adjust the current base proportion of either class so that the sum of the current base proportions equals one. The proposed law takes effect immediately.
