What A 6807 does, verified January 8, 2026

The proposed law aims to require floodplain insurance policies to cover damages caused by windblown waves or wave action in floodplains. Insurers must provide coverage under homeowners' insurance policies for single-family homes in floodplains, including residences and attached structures such as garages, boat docks, and break walls. The law defines "windblown waves" or "wave action" as water stirred by wind or other conditions to cause waves that crest above floodplain level, even when the water is below the floodplain level. The law will take effect 90 days after it becomes a law.
