What A 7200 does, verified January 9, 2026

The bill aims to provide an exception to hospital visitation rules for members of the clergy. It allows patients to request visitation by a clergy member from their religious entity's established congregation. The hospital must allow the visitation if the patient or their representative requests it, and it does not interfere with the patient's treatment or pose a health risk. The bill also permits a single clergy member to visit a patient at their bedside for up to one hour, even if the hospital's policy restricts the number of visitors. In emergency situations, such as a life-threatening emergency or the end of a patient's life, a clergy member can visit the patient at any time. The hospital can still restrict visitation if it poses a health or safety risk to the patient or others.
