What A 7490 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to improve traffic safety in communities with photo monitoring instruments. In these communities, all traffic-control devices with photo monitoring instruments must display a steady circular yellow or amber signal when a green signal is being terminated and a red signal will be shown immediately afterwards. This signal must have a uniform duration period to ensure consistent warning to drivers. The bill also defines what is meant by "photo monitoring instrument" as cameras that provide recorded images of traffic. The changes will take effect immediately.
