What A 7942 does, verified January 9, 2026

The bill aims to grant retroactive membership to a retiree, Barbara Juh, in the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System. She was employed part-time as a registered nurse at the Adirondack Correctional Facility from 2010 to 2012 and later became a full-time employee of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. The bill would deem her a member of the retirement system with Tier 5 status from September 16, 2010, if she files a written request within six months of the bill's effective date. The state would bear the cost of implementing this change. The bill also states that Barbara Juh would not be eligible for a refund of employee contributions made to the retirement system.
