What A 8711 does, verified January 8, 2026

The bill aims to allow microbusiness licensees to change their license type to adult-use cannabis cultivation. To do this, the licensee must relinquish control over any property used for adult-use retail sales. However, the office may allow the licensee to maintain an interest in the property if it will not be used for retail sales. The office will promulgate regulations to allow microbusiness licensees to operate without opening a retail storefront. Additionally, licensees will still need to obtain approval from the office to sell directly to consumers. The changes will take effect immediately.
