A 9064: Prohibits electric corporations and gas corporations from passing along costs or increasing charges to ratepayers as a result of increased costs incurred due to the building or operation of a data center except to those ratepayers involved with or associated with the building or operation of such data center or semiconductor fabrication plant.
The proposed law aims to protect certain ratepayers from increased electricity and natural gas charges resulting from the construction or operation of a data center or semiconductor fabrication plant. Electric corporations, gas corporations, and utilities are prohibited from passing on costs or increasing charges to these ratepayers due to increased costs for capital expenditures or infrastructure maintenance. These costs can only be charged to the specific ratepayers involved with or associated with the data center or semiconductor fabrication plant. The law will take effect sixty days after it becomes a law, and regulations necessary for implementation can be made effective immediately.
