STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5784 2025-2026 Regular Sessions IN SENATE March 3, 2025 ___________ Introduced by Sen. FAHY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Procurement and Contracts AN ACT to direct the commissioner of the office of general services to erect a monument to be known as the "New York state Holocaust memori- al" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The commissioner of the office of general services is here- 2 by authorized and directed to erect a suitably marked monument in the 3 Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza, in the city of Alba- 4 ny, county of Albany, dedicated to the memory of those victims who lost 5 their lives in the Holocaust. Such monument shall be known as the "New 6 York state Holocaust memorial" and shall be designed to memorialize the 7 victims of the Holocaust and to educate the public about the history of 8 the Holocaust and the dangers of antisemitism, racism, and all manifes- 9 tations of intolerance. 10 § 2. The commissioner of the office of general services shall solicit 11 from organizations who provide Holocaust remembrance services, ideas or 12 suggestions for the design, programming and location of such monument to 13 be erected pursuant to section one of this act. 14 § 3.
