S 6210: Directs the department of health to establish a right to preventative maintenance of wheelchairs program, after consultation with certain other offices, under which owners of manual and powered wheelchairs shall be entitled to reimbursement of certain preventative maintenance costs for such wheelchairs.
The bill aims to establish a "preventative maintenance of wheelchairs program" that requires owners and lessors of wheelchairs to schedule biannual appointments for maintenance with authorized repair providers. The program is designed to ensure that wheelchairs maintain their quality, function, and utility. Authorized repair providers must assess the physical condition of the wheelchair and perform necessary repairs or replacements. The program also requires reimbursement and billing procedures to be established to ensure that Medicaid payments for wheelchair repairs cover the cost of accessing products and services. The program's implementation will take effect on the 90th day after the bill becomes a law.
