S 6443: Requires public residential buildings that receive funding through the department of housing and urban development or the division of housing and community renewal to have a supply of at least one dose of naloxone readily accessible for residential use as provided by OASAS.
The proposed legislation requires public residential buildings that receive funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development or the Division of Housing and Community Renewal to maintain a supply of naloxone, a medication used to counteract opioid overdoses. The naloxone must be readily accessible for residential use, stored in a secure container, and maintained by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports. Building managers are responsible for coordinating with the office to ensure that at least one dose of naloxone is available at all times. The funding for this program will be provided by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports and the Opioid Settlement Fund.
