S 7198: Relates to the imposition of sales and compensating use taxes by the county of Albany; extends authorization for such tax until 11/30/2027.
The bill aims to allow the county of Albany to impose an additional one percent sales and compensating use tax rate, in addition to the existing three percent rate, for a specific period of time. This additional rate would apply from September 1, 1992, to November 30, 2027. The county of Albany would be required to allocate and distribute a proportionate share of the additional tax revenue to cities, towns, and villages within the county. The allocation would be made quarterly, based on the net collections from the additional tax rate. In the event that a city in the county exercises its prior right to impose a tax, the county would not be required to allocate and distribute the additional tax revenue. The bill would take effect immediately upon passage.
