S 7725: Establishes when making a decision regarding the siting of major utility transmission facilities in the case of a gas transmission line the public service commission must determine whether the alternative method of using commercial vehicles for the purpose of transporting liquified natural gas poses a hazard to public safety.
The proposed law aims to update the Public Service Law to consider alternative methods of transportation when siting major utility transmission facilities. It specifically looks at the transportation of liquefied natural gas using commercial vehicles as an alternative to traditional fuel transmission lines. The law will consider energy affordability, reliability, and safety when evaluating the siting of these facilities. In certain cases, the use of commercial vehicles for transporting liquefied natural gas may pose a hazard to public safety, and alternative methods will be considered in such situations. The law will take effect immediately, allowing for the consideration of alternative transportation methods when evaluating the siting of major utility transmission facilities.
